Alright, it has been about 2 years since i've posted anything. So i guess this should be the first of many.
Since today is the last day of 2011, i can't help but reflect about my life in JC as a student councillor and how i have changed from that experience.
Joining the Student Council was a big change from my secondary school life, after all i had sort of limited experience in terms of being a councillor and organising events. Starting from campaigning to becoming elects to finally becoming a councillor, it was a totally new experience for me and i had learnt a lot from both constantly reflecting on my actions and observing others.
Being the head of a committee was also a new experience, to distribute the jobs and ensure everyone had an event they could call their own. Many a time i would ask myself if i was doing my job properly, if the committee achieving it's objectives and if i myself am achieving the goals i have set for myself.
It was also during this period of my life that awareness of self was constantly on my mind, the idea of organisation image was always there. Though the concept of self-awareness was there before i joined, SC really brought it to a new level for me. It really made me think before i act and made running my actions through my head before doing it a habit (a good one of course).
It was really amazing how a group of 33 people are able to work together to achieve school-scale events with minimal assistance from teachers such as Orientation. It was an eye-opening experience for me. Even now as i think back on it, i am still amazed on all the events we've pulled off together.
From this entire experience, i can confidently say that i have become a much better leader and person than i was before.
To my fellow councillors who have i have been through so much with, it was really great working with everyone. The tough times that we laughed, cried and persevered through together made this journey so much more memorable. The many sleepless night we've stayed up together, the late nights we've spent in the school for meetings. All these memories and bonds that we've forged together will always be keep in my heart and to my AWESOME College Image and Bonding Committee (CIB), you guys are the best, stay awesome. To the EXCO, it was an eye-opening experience working with you all and learning together with you guys.
Thanks for everything :) Ohana ♥
